AngloGold Ashanti is a gold company which is based in South Africa. Co. conducts mining operations in Africa, North and South Americas and Australia and undertakes exploration activities worldwide. Co. is also involved in the manufacturing, marketing and selling of gold products, as well as the development of markets for gold. Co. maintains 21 operations located in 10 countries (Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Ghana, Guinea, Mali, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania and the U.S.). As of Dec. 31, 2009, the combined proved and probable ore reserves of Co. amounted to 71.4 million ounces.
